Production Manager

Iconic Roofing, LLC
Hickory, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 8/2/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/30/2026

Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for the successful execution of every roofing job within Iconic Roofing's Build division, from the point a contract is sold through final quality control and handoff to invoicing. This role owns the day-to-day operational cadence of the company's production process. The Production Manager is the primary point of accountability for scheduling, crew performance, material logistics, code compliance, and quality outcomes on every job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the production schedule, sequencing jobs and assigning crews to keep the pipeline moving efficiently from sold to complete
  • Ensure Jobsite Prep standards are met prior to crew arrival, including material staging, permitting, and site readiness
  • Provide real-time field leadership during Install-Day execution, resolving on-site issues and ensuring work meets company specifications and schedule targets
  • Enforce Quality Control checkpoints on every job prior to closeout, including verification of code-required items in accordance with jurisdiction-specific enforcement.
  • Coordinate with material suppliers and subcontracted labor to ensure consistent job supply and staffing
  • Monitor actual job costs (materials, labor, subcontracted work) against the estimated/sold price for each job, flagging margin erosion as early in the production cycle as possible
  • Investigate root causes of cost overruns — material waste, schedule delays, rework from failed QC, scope creep in the field — and work with ownership to correct them at the process level
  • Ensure completed jobs are properly documented (photos, QC sign-off, code compliance records) and cleanly handed off to the accounting team
  • Identify and escalate recurring quality, scheduling, or compliance issues; participate in root-cause resolution and SOP refinement
  • Support onboarding and training of crew leads and field staff on production standards
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to ongoing process development

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly oversees crew leads and field supervisors assigned to active jobs. Responsible for holding crews accountable to schedule, quality, and safety standards.

Performance Metrics

  • On-time job completion rate
  • QC first-pass rate (percentage of jobs passing quality control without rework)
  • Callback/warranty rate
  • Crew utilization and schedule adherence
  • Code compliance accuracy on inspected/audited jobs
  • Job-level gross margin variance (actual vs. estimated), with a target of minimal erosion from sold price to closeout

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 1 years of experience in roofing or general construction production/field management
  • Prior crew supervision experience required
  • Working knowledge of residential roofing systems, materials, and installation methods
  • Familiarity with IRC/NCRC code requirements strongly preferred; willingness to become proficient required
  • Comfortable working with job costing data — reading cost-to-complete reports and understanding how field decisions affect gross margin

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent jobs
  • Clear, direct communicator across crews, sales, ownership, and back-office functions
  • Comfortable enforcing standards and holding crews accountable in the field
  • Ability to work within and help improve documented processes
  • Problem-solving orientation — able to make sound decisions under time pressure on active jobsites

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires regular presence on active roofing jobsites, including exposure to outdoor weather conditions, working at heights (via ladder access for inspection purposes; role is not expected to perform roof installation labor), and travel between job sites across the western NC mountain region. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required. Some early morning and occasional weekend availability may be required to meet production schedules.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • On-the-job training
  • Paid time off

Work Location: In person
