Position Overview
The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment. Position Details
Job Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Contract Term: 10.5-Month (Typical School Year)
Reports To: Principal or Designee
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM; hours may vary based on after-school supplemental responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Planning & Delivery
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans across subject areas.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to promote student understanding and participation.
- Integrate critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving into daily instruction.
Classroom & Behavior Management
- Establish clear behavioral expectations and create a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
- Use proactive strategies to support student behavior and address issues respectfully and consistently.
- Model and reinforce school-wide norms, routines, and values.
Student Assessment & Data Use
- Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments to monitor academic progress.
- Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and provide targeted support.
- Communicate student performance with appropriate stakeholders.
Differentiated Instruction
- Adapt lessons and provide varied support to meet the diverse academic needs of students.
- Ensure all learners are challenged and supported to achieve growth and success.
Student Supervision
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and other school settings to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Maintain a consistent presence and hold students accountable to school expectations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with grade-level or subject-area teams to plan lessons and align instruction.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress, behavior, and school activities.
- Collaborate with school leaders and support staff to implement academic and behavioral interventions.
Professional Growth
- Participate in professional development, coaching, and reflective practice to improve teaching effectiveness.
- Stay current on best practices in education and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- In addition to the core teaching responsibilities, educators at Icon Preparatory School may be called upon to support various school-wide initiatives, events, or administrative needs. Teachers are expected to demonstrate flexibility and a team-oriented mindset by performing additional duties as assigned by school leadership, consistent with the goals and mission of the school.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children in educational settings.
- Proven ability to deliver effective instruction and manage a classroom independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
- Commitment to student success and a high-expectations learning environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- State certification in relevant subject areas and/or grade level.
- Experience teaching in diverse, urban, or high-needs school settings.
- Proficiency with instructional technology, data tools, and classroom management systems.
Work Environment
- Active classroom setting with frequent student interaction and movement.
- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and ongoing engagement.
- May involve occasional participation in school events, assemblies, or extracurricular activities.
Physical Demands
- Requires standing, walking, and active engagement with students for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Requires sufficient visual and auditory acuity to effectively monitor student behavior and communicate clearly.

Pay: $46,560.00 per year
