Buyer / Sourcing Analyst

Pay Range: $35.00 – $38.50 per hour
Position Overview
The Buyer/Sourcing Analyst within the Supply Chain Management Department is responsible for purchasing high-quality materials, services, and equipment in accordance with required specifications, while supporting engineering, maintenance, and operational schedules.
This role also provides analytical and research support to the Sourcing Team, contributing to strategic sourcing initiatives such as market analysis, supplier evaluation, and specification development. The position offers strong growth potential based on performance and experience in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment where efficiency, reliability, and teamwork are key to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct spend category analysis, market research, supplier analysis, and cost benchmarking/modeling.
- Procure materials, services, and equipment at the most competitive cost without compromising quality or specifications.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials in alignment with engineering, maintenance, and operational schedules.
- Issue purchase orders and manage releases under service agreements.
- Monitor order progress, expedite shipments, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Review requisitions for completeness and proper approvals.
- Coordinate documentation flow with Accounts Payable and receiving teams.
- Process invoices and submit them to Accounts Payable.
- Identify sourcing opportunities through analysis of business and industry data.
- Support Sourcing Specialists and Senior Sourcing Specialists on strategic sourcing projects and supplier relationship management.
- Apply and execute standard sourcing methodologies, including:
- Spend and industry data analysis
- Supplier evaluation (cost, quality, performance metrics)
- Pricing and cost modeling analysis
- Monitoring market trends, pricing, and supplier developments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement (energy, chemicals, or related industries preferred).
- Experience with Oracle Financial systems and purchase order management tools preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to meet client needs and expectations.
- Experience in supplier or contractor management.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership potential; prior leadership experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
