ICM is seeking an Estimator/Lead Estimator to play a critical role on their growing Preconstruction team.
This individual will lead and support the development of accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates across a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects. It’s important that this person has experience bidding diverse projects; ideally large ground up commercial builds across industries like K-12, higher education, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, etc…
Beyond technical estimating, this role is a key “level-up” hire and will need to bring experience, perspective, and reliability to a young and growing team. This individual will help refine processes, mentor team members, and strengthen ICM’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality preconstruction services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of conceptual budgets, design estimates, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposals, and hard bids across all CSI divisions
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs (QTO) from drawings, specs, and project documents
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids
- Develop and maintain a strong trade partner network and bidder pool
- Prepare complete bid packages, including scope clarifications, exclusions, and general conditions
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and owners throughout preconstruction
- Present and defend estimates internally (and externally when needed), clearly communicating assumptions, risks, and opportunities
- Support value engineering efforts and cost optimization strategies
- Mentor and guide junior estimators and team members
Qualifications
- 5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction
- Experience with mid-to-large scale projects (ideally similar or larger than ICM’s work)
- Exposure to a variety of project types (e.g., education, healthcare, commercial, complex builds)
- Strong understanding of construction means & methods
- Experience with estimating tools such as:
- Bluebeam
- ProEst (or similar)
- Working knowledge of:
- Procore (or similar project management systems)
- Basic scheduling concepts (preferred, not required)
- No specific degree required—experience and capability matter most
