Job Description:
We are looking for three exceptionally creative, friendly, team-oriented audiovisual technicians to join The Ice House Comedy Club and create a comforting and high energy atmosphere. The ideal candidates will have experience running live events, concerts and spoken word meetings. We are seeking individuals with great attitudes who can work in a high-volume environment. We need individuals who work well with others, multitask, and can communicate exceptionally well.
The primary requirements for this position are to ensure all audio, visual, and lighting systems are in excellent working condition for live and recorded events within the club. Audiovisual technicians must be able to assemble microphones, mix sound boards, coordinate graphics, operate spotlight and provide technical support for our live events. Audiovisual technicians must have experience recording and must be able to create copies of the live events and stream music and comedy recordings for club use, talent representatives and/or producers.
Essential Functions:
- Consult with the performer, producer, director or manager before the act to determine the correct lighting and sound requirements from the performer and/or producer/director/manager.
- Monitor and adjust lights and sound before and during each act.
- Adjust room temperature as needed to maintain a comfortable environment.
- Pump up the audience for the show through lighting, video, and music, then introduce the emcee (MC).
- Conduct oneself in a proficient manner following all company policies and procedures.
- Record and duplicate a show CD to keep on file or give to the producer or talent.
- Prepare showrooms and sound booths to commence the show by inspecting, turning on all equipment and lighting, and setting up tables and chairs in proper places.
- Collaborate with management, staff, and talent to coordinate activities by continuous contact throughout each shift.
- Immediately report malfunctions, issues, or problems to building manager and/or shift lead in order to prevent mishaps during the show.
- Solve/troubleshoot malfunctions, issues and other problems to prevent mishaps during the show.
- Arrive to work on time and well-groomed with Ice House attire on and ready to work.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace throughout the shift and ensure all items are in proper order prior to leaving after each shift.
- Communicate any outstanding tasks and/or issues to the supervisor and/or proper personnel prior to leaving after each shift.
Responsibilities include:
- Proficient understanding of audio, visual, and lighting equipment, networking and wiring for recording.
- Use clear communication skills to articulate others' thoughts, ideas, and/or information.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Effectively use vocal tones to make announcements.
- Interact positively with persons of various cultures and backgrounds.
- Capable of working with multiple computer programs for recording and editing.
- Meet with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements before performances.
- Alter venue arrangements according to layout diagrams.
- Lay electrical and sound cables to performance specifications.
- Set up and install microphones, lights, video monitors, projectors, speakers, and video cameras, that weigh up to 35 lbs.
- Conducting sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment before each performance/event/act.
- Inspect mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations before each act.
- Operate sound and visual equipment during live events.
- Troubleshoot equipment and ensure events run smoothly.
- Maintain strong customer relations.
- Disassemble audio and visual equipment and pack up after performances and events.
- Proficient in reading and writing in English.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in sound engineering or a similar field. (Preferred)
- High school degree required.
- Previous experience working as an AV technician, preferably three (3) years of experience.
- In-depth knowledge of sound, video, and lighting equipment.
- Familiarity with computers and IP Networking Systems.
- Advanced knowledge of modern filming and sound mixing techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- A keen eye for detail.
- High level of physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work rotating schedules, holidays, weekends, and nights
