Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Platform Engineering
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure within Amazon Web Services supporting enterprise logistics applications, APIs, integrations, and customer platforms
- Architect highly available, fault-tolerant environments across multiple regions and production tiers
- Lead cloud modernization initiatives including migration of legacy platforms and acquired company systems
- Develop repeatable infrastructure standards using Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and CloudFormation
- Establish secure, scalable cloud patterns that support future enterprise growth
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and AWS deployment services
- Automate deployment, configuration, testing, and operational processes to improve speed, consistency, and reliability
- Develop scripts and tooling using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to eliminate manual operational dependencies
- Improve release governance and deployment quality to minimize production risk
- Support environment consistency across development, testing, staging, and production
- Design and maintain secure enterprise network connectivity across cloud environments, offices, acquired entities, and external partners
- Manage VPN tunnels supporting connectivity with customers, carriers, customs brokers, financial systems, and global operating partners
- Maintain AWS networking including VPCs, routing, NAT gateways, subnets, security groups, and private connectivity models
- Troubleshoot latency, routing, and connectivity issues affecting business-critical operations
- Support secure B2B integration frameworks including EDI and API traffic
- Enforce cloud security best practices using least privilege access models and role-based access controls
- Manage IAM standards, identity federation, and authentication controls including MFA.
- Support enterprise security posture aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, customer requirements, and internal governance
- Conduct periodic access reviews, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening activities
- Collaborate with security stakeholders to strengthen monitoring and response capability
- Monitor infrastructure health using tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, and ELK-based logging platforms
- Optimize platform performance, availability, and recovery capability across critical systems
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
- Maintain disaster recovery readiness and business continuity support processes
- Reduce infrastructure-related service disruption through proactive engineering improvements
- Monitor and optimize cloud spend through rightsizing, auto-scaling, reserved capacity, and architecture efficiency
- Establish governance standards for resource provisioning and usage control
- Provide reporting on cloud consumption, optimization opportunities, and cost trends
- Partner with leadership to ensure infrastructure investments support business priorities
- Support technology integration of acquired businesses into enterprise platform standards
- Assess inherited infrastructure, identify risks, and develop migration roadmaps
- Enable secure transition of applications, data, and connectivity during acquisitions
- Standardize newly acquired environments into enterprise cloud controls
- Partner with engineering teams to support application scalability and platform requirements
- Support integrations involving shipment visibility, rating, invoicing, document exchange, and customer APIs
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to align infrastructure capability with logistics operations
- Provide technical leadership on infrastructure decisions impacting customer delivery.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related. Advanced degree preferred
- 7 years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps or platform engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, and CloudFormation
- Advanced experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC frameworks
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline design and automation
- Strong networking knowledge including VPNs, firewalls, routing, and secure connectivity
- Experience supporting enterprise security and compliance frameworks
- Strong scripting ability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Preferred qualifications and skills include:
- Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or customer-facing service environments
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with EDI integration patterns and logistics APIs
- Knowledge of SQL / NoSQL systems and cloud data platform performance
- Experience supporting acquisitions or multi-entity infrastructure integration
- Exposure to cloud governance and cost reporting tools such as AWS Cost Explorer or CloudHealth
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products
