Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting their overall well-being in a group home or community setting. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalized care and support.
Job Responsibility's:
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or during home health visits.
- Monitor clients' vital signs and report any changes in their condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events to promote socialization and independence.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and ensuring proper hygiene practices.
- Assist with medication administration as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Provide support for individuals with specific needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Document client progress and any incidents accurately in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in caregiving roles is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with first aid, CPR, patient observation, and monitoring is preferred.
- Experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes or hospice care is beneficial.
- Knowledge of cooking and meal preparation for individuals with dietary restrictions is a plus.
- A background in social work or related fields can enhance your candidacy for this position.
