The Director of Integrated School Initiatives will lead ICAN’s comprehensive System of Care (SOC) initiative within the Utica City School District (UCSD). This position is responsible for the overall design, implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of integrated school-based services that support the academic, behavioral, social, and emotional well-being of students. The Director serves as the primary liaison between ICAN and UCSD, ensuring effective collaboration among school personnel, community partners, and ICAN staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, development, implementation, and oversight of the UCSD System of Care (SOC) initiative and all associated program components.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive special education support services, including Behavioral Support Specialists, Clinical Care Coordinators, and Psychiatric Supports.
  • Supervise and support behavioral intervention services delivered throughout UCSD buildings by Student Engagement Specialists and Peer Advocates.
  • Oversee the Professional Training, Education, and Development Department, including training initiatives for staff, students, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and oversee the UCSD System of Care team to ensure effective communication, collaboration, coordination, and identification of service gaps among school and community-based partners.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and support to Program Managers responsible for the various program components.
  • Collaborate closely with UCSD administration to ensure successful implementation, ongoing communication, and continuous enhancement of the System of Care model.
  • Work collaboratively with other ICAN Directors and leadership staff to promote cross-program integration and facilitate access to ICAN services within UCSD as appropriate.
  • Collect, analyze, monitor, and report program outcome data to support data-driven decision-making and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of program budgets and fiscal resources.
  • Identify emerging student, family, and school needs and develop innovative programming and service solutions to address those needs.
  • Attend meetings, committees, and community collaborations as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with school district personnel, community partners, funding agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Promote the agency’s mission, vision, values, and commitment to high-quality services.
  • Travel within the service area and throughout New York State as required.
  • Additional duties may be assigned on an as-needed basis.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required.
  • At least five (5) years relevant experience designing, developing and implementing
  • innovative programming as well as supervision staff and/or leading a team.
  • Additional professional development in specialty areas helpful. Ability to adjust to
  • student, staff, and program needs.
  • Experience working in Behavioral or Mental Health field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Ability to obtain certification in various training models such as Therapeutic Crisis
  • Intervention (TCI) training and/or other EBP as identified.

Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
