Financial Account Manager
Austin, TX – Full Time – Onsite
We are currently looking for a Financial Account Manager to join our Austin based client.
You will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations and financial reporting activities in compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, internal controls, and applicable government contracting requirements. This role is critical to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintaining a strong internal control environment, and supporting audit readiness.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Overseeing general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
- Ensure preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Preparing and reviewing financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation for external reporting
- Research, interpret, and implement new and existing accounting standards (ASC), assessing impacts to the company
- Preparing and reviewing technical accounting memoranda
- Providing leadership in complex accounting areas
- Ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other applicable government contracting regulations
- Supporting government cost audits, DCAA reviews, and regulatory inquiries
- Managing SOX compliance activities
- Serving as the primary accounting liaison to external auditors
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance controls, efficiency, and risk mitigation
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting staff
- Partnering with the appropriate chains to ensure financial accuracy and alignment
- Serving as a trusted advisor to leadership on accounting matters
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Big 4 public accounting and public company experience, with 2–5 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP , SEC reporting, and internal controls (SOX)
- Experience within public companies or IPO-ready environments
- Experience with enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet recurring deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- CPA certification
- Experience with FAR/CAS and government contracting accounting
