Position Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining process documentation, including work travelers, to support the efficient, safe, and compliant execution of all repairs, overhauls, and inspection functions. This role acts as a key technical resource, working cross-functionally to ensure processes meet regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Develop, document, and optimize repair, overhaul, and inspection processes for engines and engine components in accordance with regulatory requirements (FAA/EASA), customer specifications, and company standards.
· Create and update work travelers, process instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support shop floor activities.
· Analyze workflow and identify areas for process improvement to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Technical Support
· Provide day-to-day technical support to production, quality, and inspection teams.
· Troubleshoot process issues and recommend effective corrective actions.
· Assist with the implementation of new repair techniques, tools, and equipment.
Compliance & Documentation
· Ensure all process documentation is compliant with applicable aviation regulations (FAA Part 145, EASA, etc.) and internal quality management systems (ISO 9001).
· Maintain accurate and current engineering files, records, and documentation.
Continuous Improvement
· Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) to reduce waste, increase productivity, and ensure process robustness.
· Collect and analyze process data to support decision-making and improvement projects.
Training & Communication
· Train and support production staff on new or revised processes and work with travelers.
· Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (production, quality, supply chain, management) to ensure process understanding and alignment.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) (List relevant job experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required/desired for the job.)
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience in an aviation MRO environment will be considered.
- 2 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in an aviation MRO or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of aviation regulatory requirements (FAA/EASA), quality systems, and industry standards.
- Experience developing process documentation, work travelers, and SOPs.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP/MES systems and CAD software is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Office and shop floor environment; exposure to aviation components, chemicals, and noise typical of an MRO facility.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, and move between production and office areas as required.
40,000 sq ft indoor, air-conditioned facility with great people and a driven culture. Tooling is required, as well as special safety footwear and safety glasses.
