The Field Safety Manager role will be responsible for providing Field support to the Angelo Iafrate Safety & Health Department for both local and out of state projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, adherence to company policies, and providing peer guidance to Project Safety Manager(s) and third-party safety representatives.


The Field Safety Manager collaborates closely with Safety Director, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel to cultivate a strong culture of safety and prevent workplace accidents and injuries. The Field Safety Manager is vital to safeguarding the well-being of all employees, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. By promoting a culture of safety and compliance, the Field Safety Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the company’s strong safety record and driving operational excellence.

Field Inspection, Risk Assessment and Mitigation – 40%

Safety Culture Promotion – ongoing

HSE Investigation and Safety Data Analysis – 15%

Management of Others – 10%


FIELD SAFETY MANAGER’S KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Program Development:

  • Ensure compliance with Iafrate Safety Policies and Procedures, Project Specific Programs and any Regulatory agencies that govern our work.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Review project specific Hazard Analysis for accuracy and provide regulatory guidance where applicable.
  • Manage the daily activities of third-party safety representatives where appropriate.

 

Training and Development:

  • Create and deliver safety training programs for all employees for the site assigned.
  • Create and deliver new hire orientation for the site assigned
  • Ensure all employees are thoroughly trained in safety procedures and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Stay informed on the latest safety practices and technologies, incorporating them into training programs.

 

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

  • Be part of the team that investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and training activities.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with Safety Director, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel to integrate safety practices into all operations.
  • Participate in Shop and Field Safety Committees.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Communicate safety expectations and policies to all employees and subcontractors.
  • Interface with Owner, General Contractors, and Regulatory entities as it relates to Safety & Health.
  • Foster an Iafrate First team approach

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all projects adhere to federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes in safety laws and regulations as it relates to our work

 

Risk Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Implement and monitor safety performance metrics.
  • Recommend and implement safety improvements and innovations.

 

Emergency Response Planning:

  • Conduct regular emergency drills and training sessions.
  • Ensure all employees are familiar with emergency response protocols.

 

FIELD SAFETY MANAGER’S QUALIFICATIONS
  • A people person, who enjoys a challenge and rises to the occasion.
  • Easily relates to & understands people and what motivates them.
  • The ability to implement safety that makes a difference.
  • Preferred 2-5 years experience in the Construction Safety field.
  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • Ability to lead training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or closely related field preferred.
  • Professional certification(s) such as CSP, CHST, ARM, are an asset.
  • Deep working knowledge of MIOSHA, DOT, and EPA/EGLE standards
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to work closely with established team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Follow instructions given both orally and in writing.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.
