Program Coordinator (Field Supervision) – Urban Safety Program

Overview

This is a high-accountability, field-facing supervisory role. It is not an entry-level administrative position.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for direct oversight of volunteers, field operations, and program compliance across multiple active sites.

Success in this role requires the ability to manage people, enforce expectations, and operate independently in both office and field environments.

Candidates seeking remote work, minimal supervision responsibilities, or primarily administrative duties will not be a fit.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise volunteers and program staff with clear performance expectations and accountability.

Address attendance, performance issues, and productivity gaps consistently.

Develop and manage individual work plans tied to program outputs.

Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training for volunteers.

Conduct site visits, field audits, and quality control checks.

Maintain compliance with grant and program requirements.

Travel regularly within Detroit and surrounding communities.

Maintain in-office presence 5 days/week when not in the field.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree OR minimum of 5 years of management/supervisory experience.

Experience supervising staff, teams, or volunteers.

Ability to manage performance and enforce accountability.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with volunteer-based or service programs.

Background in community programs, workforce development, or public safety.

Experience with compliance or grant-funded programs.

Field work, auditing, or site monitoring experience.

Work Environment

Fast-paced, high-responsibility role.

Requires strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Not suited for candidates needing constant direction.

Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
