Position Title: Workforce Coordinator (METAL Program)

 

Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications


Job Summary: IACMI – The Composite Institute is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Workforce Coordinator to primarily support our Metallurgical Engineering and Trades Apprenticeship and Learning (METAL) workforce education and development program. This role will support the technical and programmatic management of the program, as well as project management activities including tracking milestone timelines, preparing reports, and collaborating with education and industry partners to ensure program success. Your proactive approach, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently will be essential in contributing to our mission of engaging, supporting, and elevating members of our community. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is well-organized, energetic, and a self-starter who enjoys working on a team focused on changing the lives of individuals and communities through education and training.


IACMI is headquartered in Knoxville, TN. This is a remote position requiring individuals to work independently and on a team in a virtual environment. This position, reporting to the National Workforce Manager, requires national travel with overnight stays approximately 50% of the time, including quarterly in-person meetings at our headquarters in Knoxville, TN. Eligible candidates may reside in MI, OH, TN, WV, FL, NC, IN, AL, MN, PA, WI, TX, IA, and KY.

Responsibilities:

  • Attain key performance metrics relating to IACMI’s Metallurgical Engineering and Trades Apprenticeship and Learning (METAL) workforce education and development program.
  • Support the technical and programmatic management of the METAL workforce education and development program, including subcontractor management, planning, monitoring, and reporting on activities.
  • Collaborate with education and industry partners to integrate feedback and enhancements into the program curriculum, refining and optimizing training materials.
  • Engage with relevant certification bodies and industry organizations to align the METAL program with recognized industry standards and certifications.
  • Share knowledge and insights with industry professionals, educational institutions, and workforce stakeholders.
  • Work independently toward milestone completion within established timelines, identify hindrances, and mitigate challenges to ensure successful outcomes and results.
  • Work with the Program Management team to report deliverables, identify risks, and track all program-related budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Program Management team to report the completion of deliverables, identify risks, and track all budgets related to the program.
  • Support METAL participant recruitment efforts for online and in-person training programs and initiatives.
  • Facilitate METAL site expansion by proactively engaging and establishing collaborations with prospective academic and industry partners across various states.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and participate in team meetings, both in-person and virtual formats, presenting workforce analytics, program updates, and related budget information.
  • Establish career pathways by acting as a connection point between various types of workforce programs in defined regions where METAL Hubs and Spokes are located.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to plan, develop, and distribute marketing materials for programs and events, as well as create engaging social media and newsletter content.
  • Provide support for tracking and reporting analytics for workforce programs.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Initiate phone calls with team members, partners, and participants as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of program processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field (relevant experience considered).
  • Workforce development experience preferred.
  • Experience with industry training programs such as apprenticeship and other work-based learning is a plus.
  • Experience with technical writing such as proposal development, white papers, case studies, etc.
  • Experience working with non-profits and grant funded programs
  • Knowledge of the casting and forging industry is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a project team including external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing, and time management skills.
  • Enthusiasm for our METAL ACE program mission to engage, support, and elevate manufacturing, regional, and community ecosystems and education and training pathways.
  • Highly driven, proactive, and results-oriented.
  • Problem-solver with a proven ability to take initiative.
  • Technical aptitude and adaptability to learn various software applications and tools.
  • Experience providing input for project budgets preferred.
  • Experience with MS Teams, Zoom, MS PowerPoint, Salesforce, and/or Canvas preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills relying heavily on the utilization of event and Outlook calendars, task setting, and thorough completion and documentation of all activities.
  • Valid US driver’s license required.
  • Complete background and drug screens prior to employment.
  • Ability to move around freely, lift at least 25 lbs., and sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time, with overnight stays.
