Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with a CDL A license across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate manual handling techniques, forklift equipment, or specialized trucks such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks.
- Transport a variety of cargo including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, or specialty freight like automobile transportation or tanker loads.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments to meet delivery schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo manifests in accordance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate loading/unloading processes and ensure cargo is secured properly during transit.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers preferred.
- Proven delivery driving experience with knowledge of route driving and freight handling procedures.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations (hazmat) and dangerous goods transportation standards.
- Ability to manually handle heavy cargo safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual techniques.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures including freight security and cargo safety protocols.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, and hazard communication standards relevant to commercial truck driving.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route optimization in over-the-road (OTR) settings.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently; experience with different truck types such as dump trucks or tanker trucks is a plus.
