Job Title: Teacher Itinerant – Blind/Visually Impaired (Health Educator)
Location: Lakeside, AZ (Onsite)
Duration: 9 months
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 Hours/Week)
Employment Type: W2 Contract (No Benefits)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher Itinerant – Blind/Visually Impaired to provide specialized educational services to students with visual impairments in the Lakeside, Arizona area. The selected candidate will develop individualized learning plans, deliver high-quality instruction, assess student progress, and collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide quality instruction to students with visual impairments.
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans.
- Evaluate student abilities and determine appropriate educational programs.
- Prepare, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and complete required evaluations and documentation.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers.
- Utilize current educational and diagnostic practices for sensory-impaired students.
- Support positive student behavior and classroom management.
- Travel to assigned schools and districts within the surrounding service area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education with coursework specific to sensory impairments.
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement for Blind/Visually Impaired instruction.
- (Teacher O&M positions require ACVREP Certification in lieu of ADE certification.)
- Ability to pass FBI and State of Arizona background checks.
- Willingness to travel to multiple school locations within the assigned districts.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Arizona Academic Standards.
- Experience with lesson planning and IEP development.
- Student assessment and evaluation practices.
- Understanding of educational practices for students with visual impairments.
- Strong classroom and behavior management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
