Job Description
We are seeking an Onsite Mechanical Engineer to support new product development and ongoing sustenance engineering for Finelite lighting products. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to deliver high-quality mechanical designs and ensure successful product lifecycle execution.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Design
- Lead new product development including concept creation, mechanical design, and engineering detailing.
- Perform 3D CAD modeling and generate 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Prepare tooling and production drawings for release to manufacturing.
Prototyping & Testing
- Build prototypes for mechanical, environmental, and compliance testing.
- Prepare test plans, conduct validation and testing, and document results.
Engineering Analysis & Documentation
- Conduct and review Design & Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Create installation manuals, assembly instructions, and wiring diagrams.
- Support spec sheet development and bill of materials (BOM) preparation.
Product Sustenance
- Provide engineering support for existing products (value engineering, cost-saving initiatives).
- Perform competitive benchmarking to drive design improvements.
- Manage changes through Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and other internal teams to resolve design and production issues.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD tools.
- Proficiency in engineering drawing creation, GD&T, and mechanical detailing.
- Experience with lighting products preferred (not mandatory).
- Knowledge of validation testing, DFMEA, and PLM systems.
- Ability to work onsite and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
