The Project:
A large-scale API manufacturing facility is expanding, and we're looking for a proactive I&C Project Manager to own instrumentation and controls delivery across two nodes: the site Warehouse and the Admin/Labs building.
The Warehouse is a significant piece of infrastructure - 40,000 sq ft of coolers and freezers holding six months of incoming raw materials for the entire site, plus high-volume controlled spaces, hazard segregation, and finished goods storage. Separate BMS and QBMS contracts sit underneath it, and both need to be navigated to a successful outcome.
The Admin/Labs node carries its own I&C demands and requires the same owner's-side coordination across construction field teams and QA.
Your first month is a gap analysis across both nodes - establishing current state, setting objectives, and defining the path forward.
What You'll Own
- End-to-end I&C project management from late design through construction, startup, and GMP release
- Construction oversight - managing EPC firms, vendors, and contractors so installation matches drawings, specifications, and requirements
- Acting as central point of contact across Engineering, Construction, Operations, Quality, Validation, and Site Leadership to hold scope clarity and schedule
- Cost control and capital budgeting: submitting capital requests, reviewing bids, negotiating vendor packages, and keeping spend inside approved limits
- Reviewing P&IDs, specifications, procedures, and scope documents for accuracy and feasibility
- Resolving technical issues through installation and operational phases, and developing corrective actions for system discrepancies
- Enforcing safety regulations across all electrical and instrumentation work
What We're Looking For
- Degree or certificate in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Proven I&C project management experience - this is a requirement, not a preference
- Working knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems and their supporting documentation
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or other GMP construction and expansion projects
- Genuine owner's rep capability: setting objectives, driving to completion, and navigating complex client and vendor relationships
- Confidence leading multi-stakeholder meetings and steering vendor personnel through to client satisfaction
- Creative, proactive problem solving - this role rewards people who find the issue before it becomes a delay
