SUMMARY:

The Assistant Store Manager has the responsibility and the accountability in assisting the Store Leader with revenue growth and drive profitability of the store. The Assistant Store Manager fulfills responsibility by using sound business leadership and management practices. The Assistant Store Manager assists in the planning, motivating and coordinating the activities of the Store Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Oversees and ensures all warehouse functions, including but not limited to incoming inventory, customer orders, delivery; are processed and completed on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and process all barge orders daily and in accordance with PCH procedures and policies.
  • Ensures customer orders and delivery documents are reviewed and completed accurately on a daily basis.
  • Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape Coworkers' attitudes and build morale.
  • Ensures returns are processed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the Warehouse Inventory is kept in a clean and orderly manner according to the Store protocols and processes.
  • Coordinates with the Warehouse Personnel and ensures the most efficient routes in delivery to customers and vendors is scheduled.
  • Monitors the daily operating reports and recommends to the Store Leader improved courses of action where necessary.
  • Ensures all new hires are properly trained on the functions of their job duties.
  • Ensures all employees complete required safety, security, compliance, and platform specific system training. Works with the Store Leader in developing and coordinating plans to ensure all Store Personnel meet and/or exceed training requirements.
  • Ensures barge orders are created, processed, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures Store maintenance concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures applicable Store Personnel are forklift certified and maintain all necessary certification and training on a regular basis. Serves as the Forklift Certification Instructor as needed for the Store.
  • Completes daily bank runs and deposits.
  • Participates in the annual and/or periodic store inventory events.
  • Assists in coordinating with the business office all daily procedures and protocols that are required. This includes all TAMS reports on a timely basis in the absence of the Store Leader.
  • Resolves customer complaints in a timely and appropriate manner in the absence of the Store Leader.
  • Completes payroll-related functions, including but not limited to approving timesheets and leave requests are completed timely in the absence of the Store Leader.
  • Meets with Store Leader to develop monthly goals and objectives and reviews actual performance.
  • Assists the Store Leader with meetings to ensure that the Store is operating effectively, efficiently, profitably, and with synergy.
  • Communicates Company Policies and Processes to all team members and ensures that they are understood and followed.
  • Implements the Store Leader’s Action Plans that will increase sales revenues, lower costs and increase profits of the store.
  • Monitors and ensures all company processes and protocols are implemented.
  • Develops excellent communication skills and relationships with Store Personnel and co-workers.
  • Works with the Store Leader to ensure the Store meets or exceeds its sales objectives on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.
  • Works with the Store Leader to ensure that the retail, wholesale, and fleet business produce sufficient gross profit to aid 1he Store in attaining its profit objectives.
  • Works with the Store Leader to create and implement marketing and merchandising activities, as sales events.
  • Works with the Store Leader in the planning and maintenance for a balanced inventory that effectively attains sales and profit objectives.
  • Ensures the financial plan created by Store Leader and PCH GM are implemented.
  • Enforces, and monitors guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures that the work area is kept clean.
  • Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of SDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
  • Attends mandatory management meetings.
  • Maintains professional appearance and hygiene; Ensure work uniform and name badge are always worn.
  • Completes and remains current with all mandatory manufacturing, safety compliance, safeguards, and cybersecurity training.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, and motivating Store Personnel.
  • Assists in monitoring all company processes and protocols.
  • Assist the Store Leader with directing and monitoring all Store personnel, assists with counseling reports for Store personnel, and helps complete a performance evaluation of Store personnel on an annual basis.
  • Assists with maintaining the Store Vehicle Service Worksheet report.
  • Assists the Store Leader with coordination of the store annual and/or periodic Parts Inventory events.
  • Assists with other PCH location annual Parts Inventory.
  • Assists with Forklift Certification of Warehouse Personnel.
  • Assists with Dispatch responsibilities.
  • Assists in compensating for any personnel deficiencies in the Store that may lead to the Store not attaining its planned goals.
  • Assists in monitoring all company processes and protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Store Leader.
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATION

  • Have and maintain a current driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must be able to work retail hours, which might include nights and/or weekends.
  • Basic computer skills

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or one to three months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of retail and wholesale parts and accessories experience.
  • Management and staff development experience. (Preferred)
  • Cash Handling experience required.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale [POS] System required.

  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills

  • Proficient with Email & Communication
  • Experience with Inventory Management Software

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memorandums.  Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • An ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management, customers, clients and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Forklift Certification: Complete and obtain Forklift Certification within three (3) months from the first day of employment.
  • Forklift Instructor Certification: Complete and obtain Forklift Instructor Certification within eight (8) months from first day of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s license is required to complete customer deliveries, customer meetings, and drive to other locations as needed.

  • Continuous alertness and attention to detail, concentration and ability to perform mathematical calculations to produce accurate work
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with leadership and Store Personnel on time-sensitive matters.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with the assistant of safety gears, equipment, or PPE, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with the assistant of safety gears, equipment, or PPE. Rarely lift up to 100 pounds, requiring assistance from PPE, tools and equipment for items over 60 pounds. 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes back braces, hand, head, foot, eye, face, and body protection. Goggles/eye protection, gloves, ear plugs, and back brace are provided by the organization and must always be included in their toolbox or workstation. PPE approved clothing/uniform and footwear, closed-toe, steel toes and slip-resistant soles, must be worn at all times.

WORK HOURS:

  • Regular Business Hours
  • Travel between IKC and other PCH locations may require longer hours.
  • Inventory events may require longer hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles; moving mechanical parts, equipment; high precarious places. Outside weather conditions range from moderate cool to extreme heat and/or humid, wet/rain conditions; risk of electrical shock; explosion; noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
