Prep/ Line Cook

Location: JFK Airport, NY
Starting Pay:$26.80 per hour

I.K. Hofmann is currently recruiting for a Prep/ Line Cook supporting a First-Class Airport Lounge at JFK Airport. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, reliable candidate who can work in a professional, fast-paced, guest-focused kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Set up and stock stations with supplies, utensils, and ingredients

• Prep food for service, including chopping, slicing, portioning, and preparing sauces

• Cook and replenish buffet items with the kitchen team to maintain quality and presentation

• Follow Executive Chef or Sous Chef direction and execute production needs

• Ensure food is delivered on time, at high quality, and in appropriate hot/cold holding

• Label, date, rotate, and store products following FIFO and food safety guidelines

• Keep work areas clean and organized; break down stations and handle leftovers properly

• Comply with sanitation, nutrition, and safety standards

• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and lounge guests

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required

• Professional cooking experience required; line cook or prep cook experience preferred

• Culinary Arts degree preferred

• Knowledge of cooking methods, equipment, and safe food handling

• Strong communication skills; able to multitask and stay focused with interruptions

• Team-oriented, dependable, and able to work under pressure

• Must be flexible for any shifts due to 24/7 airport operations

Essential Functions

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time during prep and service.

• The person in this position will be required to move about the kitchen area from station to station.

• Must be able to distinguish between flavors when preparing and finishing dishes.

• Must be able to communicate with team members and exchange accurate information.

Work Environment

• Primarily indoors in a kitchen and airport lounge setting

• Exposure to hot equipment, refrigeration, and sharp tools

• Sometimes exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures; workspaces may not be temperature-controlled

• Sometimes exposed to cleaning chemicals; noise levels may be distracting

• Work near others and often share the same workspace

Schedule

Operational hours are 24/7. Hours will vary by operational needs. Must be flexible for any shifts. Overtime may be available.
