First things first: whatever your background, beliefs, or ambitions, there’s a culture of belonging at Hyve - and everyone is welcome. The question isn’t where you’ve come from, but where you want to go.
You’ll thrive here if you’re curious, collaborative, and not afraid to challenge convention. We look for people who take pride in what they do, who are excited by change and always moving forward. The kind of people who stay open, keep learning, and look for better ways to make an impact.
Our shared behaviours guide how we work: we dare to do things differently, own our work, embrace collaboration, stay true to ourselves and others, and remember that optimism wins.
If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in.
A bit about the role:
This role reports to the SVP, Event Director
Hyve is seeking a Director of US RetailTech Strategy and Special Projects to help drive strategic growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation across our flagship US RetailTech portfolio: Shoptalk Spring, Groceryshop, and Shoptalk Fall.
This role is designed to provide senior-level strategic and executional support to the Event Director, ensuring continued momentum across all three events—even when one event is actively in market. This position plays a critical role in mitigating operational risk, maintaining pace during peak periods, and identifying initiatives that improve efficiency, profitability, and scalability without compromising margin or brand quality for Hyve.
The Director will identify, research, design, and help execute high-impact, value-generating projects that can be tested, refined, and ultimately scaled across the portfolio. The role will also provide hands-on execution support for Groceryshop and Shoptalk Fall, particularly given their increasingly tight event timelines.
This is a highly visible role with meaningful impact on Hyve’s largest and most strategically important US events. You’ll work directly with senior leadership, influence portfolio-level decisions, and help shape how our RetailTech events scale and evolve over time.
If you’re energized by big platforms, complex problems, and building systems that enable growth at scale, this role offers both challenge and opportunity.
As part of your job, you’ll be:
Portfolio Strategy & Growth
- Partner closely with the Event Director to identify strategic opportunities that drive revenue growth, improve margin, and enhance operational efficiency across all US RetailTech events.
- Develop and evaluate new initiatives, products, and operational models that can be piloted on individual events and scaled across the portfolio.
- Monitor portfolio-level performance, identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities well in advance of critical decision points.
Special Projects & Execution
- Own and execute cross-event strategic projects that require sustained focus beyond the lifecycle of a single event.
- Ensure continuity of progress across the portfolio during peak event delivery periods.
- Support execution of Groceryshop and Shoptalk Fall, particularly in years where event timing overlaps or compresses planning cycles.
Operational Excellence
- Identify process improvements, systems enhancements, and structural changes that make events more efficient and resilient at scale.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, operations, finance, and content to drive alignment and execution.
- Help ensure no lapses in revenue generation or delivery quality during the busiest periods of the event calendar.
Decision Support & Analysis
- Conduct research, analysis, and business case development for new initiatives and investments.
- Track results of implemented initiatives and support post-event evaluation to inform future portfolio decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, media/events, or a high-growth B2B environment.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects from concept through execution.
- Strong commercial mindset with experience balancing growth initiatives with margin preservation.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, high-stakes environments with immovable deadlines.
- Experience in events, media, technology, or retail ecosystems is a strong plus.
- Analytical, structured thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Here’s what we’re looking for from you:
- You want to make a difference by doing things differently
- You see change as a positive
- You embrace collaboration
- You welcome fresh perspectives and leave your ego at the door
- Even in adversity, you manage to stay positive
- You welcome the challenge
The benefits:
- The salary band for this position ranges from $140,000-150,000 based on experience
- This position will be eligible for a competitive bonus structure
- Full medical, dental, and vision package to fit your needs
- Retirement plan with company match (401K)
- Competitive vacation policy
