JOB SUMMARY:
The MIG welder will be responsible for assembling parts by fitting and welding of steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts using a MIG and/or TIG process. Parts must be run safe, accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with the production schedule and must be inspect for strength of weld after the welding process. In addition, the MIG Welder is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and the work areas assigned to them including PPE, tools, welding torch, welding wire, gas tank/regulators are in safe working order and are properly being maintained.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Ownership for their assigned tools, equipment and work areas
· Ensure availability and use of the correct welding fixture, inert gas ratio and welding wire
· Cautious when using chemicals such as anti-spatter during welding
· Ensure all fixtures and equipment are properly set-up and are used in a safe manner
· Inspection and verification of parts such that they conform to required standards
· Ability to produce production parts to quality requirements consistently
· Identify and move completed work products to the proper location
· Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting
· Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form
· Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities with a dependable work ethic
· Updating hour by hour boards regularly and communicating issues immediately
· Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the supervisor and leadership
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a high school diploma and preferably formal training/certification in welding required with at least one year of related manufacturing experience involving an apprenticeship or vocational training. Position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and to operate precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and tape measures. A relevant certificate from a welding association preferred.
