Position Summary:

We are seeking a results-driven Lead Fabrication Technician to join our dynamic production operations team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of our fabrication processes, driving continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure the highest quality standards. This role is critical in leading a team of technicians to meet production schedules and will be instrumental in developing and refining production processes.

Job Title: Lead Fabrication Technician (Production Operations)

Core Job Responsibilities:·

  • Oversee and provide daily support to fabrication technicians.
  • Update daily fabrication metrics and performance reports.
  • Ensure all technicians are trained and competent on required processes, tools and equipment.
  • Ensure technicians have the necessary resources, materials, tools and equipment to execute the production plan safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure that fabrication personnel and resources are properly allocated to meet goals.
  • Communicate priority and schedule within the fabrication team to maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor employee performance, providing positive and constructive feedback, and conflict resolution.
  • Identify and champion process improvements to ensure operations are efficient and effective.
  • Lead by example, taking input and deciding how it fits into the HyPerComp culture.
  • Manage the implementation of new ideas.
  • Ensure the team follows all necessary regulations and appropriate procedures including quality policies, safety policies, AS9100, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc. standards.
  • Maintain a positive, healthy work environment, and continually promote the HyPerComp way culture.
  • Own liner and pressure vessel fabrication, assembly and inspection processes.
  • Own filament winding fabrication processes.
  • Perform fabrication operations and tasks including rotational molding, liner inspection and assembly, filament winding, composite curing, bonding, composite inspections, CNC router operation, etc.
  • Achieve Level 2 certification in ultrasonic testing, sonic resonance testing, visual testing per HyPerComp’s non-destructive testing certification program (compliant with NAS 410 and SNT-TC-1A standards).
  • Support maintenance activities including cleaning, organization, facility maintenance improvements, and equipment maintenance and installation.
  • Accurately follow work instructions, document tool and material traceability, and document measurements.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • As needed, assist in performing testing operations including fitting assembly, instrumentation, hydro-pump operation, gas booster pump operation, leak detection, data acquisition, etc.

Typical Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • High proficiency in operating power tools, hand tools, and machinery
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • At least 3 years of industry experience in a related field
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and an acceptable driving record to operate a company vehicle
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and maintain passing status throughout employment

  • Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100
  • Fluency in lean manufacturing systems and processes

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
