A Day in the Life You arrive for the 2nd shift and review the day’s work orders: a vertical turbine pump to tear down, a horizontal unit awaiting final fit-up, and precision checks to confirm before reassembly. You rig components with the overhead crane, capture measurements with M&TE (micrometers, calipers, etc..), and interpret blueprints to verify tolerances. Your craftsmanship restores critical rotating equipment to peak performance. What You Will Do Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble large pumps of various types (horizontal and vertical).Diagnose mechanical issues and rebuild components to precise standards of accuracy.Interpret blueprints and schematic drawings; set up/construct foundations and fixtures for assembly and disassembly.Operate manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools with confidence and care.Use M&TE including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools to document findings.Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle large assemblies. Skills That Make You Successful Proficiency with hand and power tools (wrenches, impact guns, etc.).Overhead crane and forklift operation experience.Ability to read and comprehend inspection tooling and measurement results.Strong written and verbal communication.Manual dexterity, control precision, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning.Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Experience & Education High school diploma or equivalent.7 years as a pump mechanic or similar role focused on disassembly, inspection, and assembly of large pumps and rotating equipment. Tools & Technology Manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools used to operate machinery.Micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tooling.Fork trucks and overhead cranes. Work Environment The environmental characteristic for this position is an industrial setting with large machinery, overhead cranes, trucks and forklifts.
