Position Summary

The Electrical Panel & Submersible Pump Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of electrical control panels and submersible pump systems. This position combines electrical, mechanical, and automation expertise to ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of pumping equipment and control systems in industrial, commercial, municipal, and infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Panel Service

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control panels, motor control centers, junction boxes, and associated wiring.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Assemble and wire control panels, including relays, contactors, PLCs, VFDs, soft starters, instrumentation, and monitoring devices.
  • Test and verify panel functionality, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, UL, and company standards.
  • Diagnose and correct electrical faults, wiring issues, and component failures.
  • Configure and support PLC-based automation and process control systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of panel configurations, modifications, and repairs.

Submersible Pump Service

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and rebuild submersible pump systems.
  • Perform field installations, startup procedures, and commissioning activities.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures in motors, pumps, controls, and related equipment.
  • Remove, disassemble, inspect, and rebuild pumps as required.
  • Replace worn or defective components and conduct performance testing to confirm proper operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, inspections, and testing results.

Automation & System Support

  • Support SCADA, MODBUS, telemetry, and remote monitoring systems.
  • Troubleshoot communication and control issues between pumps, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Monitor and analyze flow, pressure, motor performance, and operational data.
  • Assist in process optimization and system reliability improvements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promote a strong safety culture and identify potential hazards before work begins.

Customer & Team Support

  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide status updates, repair recommendations, and maintenance reports.
  • Work collaboratively with electricians, maintenance personnel, contractors, and engineers.
  • Support emergency service calls and after-hours troubleshooting when required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or vocational training in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, control panel service, pump repair, or industrial automation.
  • Experience with submersible pump installation, startup, and repair preferred.
  • Experience in water/wastewater, industrial manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, or municipal utility environments is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, motors, controls, and industrial automation.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and MODBUS communications.
  • Ability to diagnose both electrical and mechanical equipment failures.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, single-phase and three-phase power systems.
  • Proficiency using electrical testing equipment, multimeters, megohmmeters, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment alignment and pump system operation.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as Maximo.
  • Experience with maintenance and quality management software is preferred.

Certifications

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA Safety Training preferred.
  • NFPA 70E Arc Flash Certification preferred.
  • State electrical license or industry certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

  • Industrial plants, water and wastewater facilities, municipal utility systems, commercial sites, and field service locations.
  • Frequent exposure to electrical systems, rotating equipment, water, wastewater, and heavy machinery.
  • May require lifting equipment, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and responding to emergency service calls.
  • Travel to customer locations and job sites may be required.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
