Position Overview
The Senior Accountant, Accounts Receivable plays a key role in managing and ensuring the accuracy of revenue recognition, customer invoicing, and the accounts receivable processes. This position is responsible for reviewing and processing inbound royalty statements, supporting financial close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. A core priority of this role is driving timely billing and proactive credit and collections follow-up, and partnering with the broader AR team to build more efficient, consistent processes in this area.
Additionally, the role collaborates with internal stakeholders to drive process improvements and enhance financial reporting accuracy. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Santa Monica office, with in-person collaboration 3 days per week and remote work 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Become a subject matter expert in reviewing and processing inbound royalty statements, ensuring proper formatting and revenue recognition compliance
- Own timely, accurate customer invoicing and manage the billing cycle to minimize delays
- Drive proactive credit and collections follow-up on outstanding balances, and help design and implement more efficient collections processes and cadences across the team
- Preparing journal entries and reconciliations to support the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable aging, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare bank deposits
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, providing timely and professional support
- Provide timely support for all internal and external audit requests
- Assisting with initial internal control evaluations
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, automation, and best practices for accounts receivable, billing, collections, and revenue recognition

Qualifications
- At least 3 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment, preferably within accounts receivable or revenue accounting
- Demonstrated experience with billing and credit/collections processes, with a track record of improving turnaround time and reducing past-due balances
- ERP systems experience, with a strong preference towards SAP
- Industry experience in the music, media, or entertainment sector preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in analyzing large data sets and reconciling complex financial transactions
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
- Ability to prioritize effectively, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and IT to enhance financial processes and reporting
- Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive changes across the organization
- Strong computer skills and highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access) with advanced skills in Excel
- Good communication and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly
- Strong customer service skills with proven ability to maintain positive client relationships

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA or CMA certification a plus

Salary Range
The salary range for this job is $70,304 to $80,000. This is a good faith effort at the time of posting. This range is base salary only and does not include benefits and any other compensatory components of the role.
