Summary
A Shift Engineer will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in the guest room, meeting space, and front-of-the-house areas, as well as back-of-the-house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. A Shift Engineer will also perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems, using a Windows-based computer system.
Responsibilities:
- General maintenance and repairs in the public areas, guest room, meeting space, front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas, including kitchen, electrical, mechanical, and programming.
- Performs maintenance and repairs for assigned areas of expertise such as interior and exterior buildings, guest rooms and contents, laundry and kitchen /refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation and water treatment systems, and swimming pool - applicable in public areas and covers all engineering related issues during scheduled time-frames.
- To undertake plumbing, painting decorating, carpentry, and minor electrical and mechanical engineering work as necessary to maintain safe and efficient systems within the hotel.
- Monitor efficiency of equipment and electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, guest entrance/access doors.
- Monitor BMS (Building Automation Systems).
- Log daily round sheets and Life safety round sheets and consumption.
- Assist with building maintenance and completing work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, and tile work to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
- Maintains a safe work and storage area by cleaning and organizing designated storage area, storing tools and materials, repairing or replacing old broken tools and materials, repairing old or replacing old broken tools and equipment following established procedures, and following established safety standards while using tools and equipment.

Qualifications
- Technical school and/or courses.
- Must have a positive attitude and be able to interact well with guests and colleagues.
- Previous hotel or similar maintenance experience.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all essential job functions is preferred.
- Will be regularly required to walk, occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, and kneel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Spanish and Papiamento preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Availability for emergency purposes.
- Lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
