Job Summary
The Payroll/Personnel Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the payroll and personnel functions of the organization. This position ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintains employee records, and assists with personnel-related activities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and review payroll data, ensuring accuracy of employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain and update personnel files, including employee information, attendance, and disciplinary records.
- Assist employees with questions regarding payroll, benefits, and personnel policies.
- Prepare payroll reports, summaries, and reconciliations as required.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, as well as company policies.
- Support onboarding of new employees, including processing new hire paperwork and verifying employment eligibility.
- Assist in the preparation of employment verifications, letters, and reports for internal and external use.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive employee information.
- Provide clerical support to the Human Resources or Business Office as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in business administration, accounting, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in payroll, personnel, or human resources support role.
- Knowledge of payroll practices, labor laws, and HR procedures.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Working Conditions
