About the role
As a Field Engineer, you'll be the technical engine of a customer-facing pod, partnering closely with an Account Executive and BDR to run discovery, demos, and proof-of-value engagements, then guiding customers from close through production deployment and expansion. This is a hybrid pre- and post-sales role for someone who wants real ownership over how a category-defining infrastructure product gets technically evaluated and adopted by engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales to run technical discovery, product demonstrations, and proof-of-value engagements with prospective customers
- Translate customer requirements into technical validation plans and guide prospects through evaluation
- Support customers from close through production deployment, ensuring successful adoption and expansion
- Serve as a technical voice in deal strategy, working closely with the Account Executive on positioning and competitive differentiation
- Provide feedback to Product and Engineering based on field experience with prospects and customers
What we're looking for
- 4 years in a customer-facing technical role (Field Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, Solutions Architecture, or similar)
- Strong grasp of modern data architectures — relational databases, event streaming, microservices
- Strong SQL fluency
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with streaming systems (Kafka, Flink, Spark) is a plus
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage environment with direct customer exposure
Location & Compensation
NYC, hybrid (minimum 3 days/week in office). Base salary $145,000–$160,000, plus variable bonus and equity, with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. Actual compensation depends on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications assessed during the interview process.
