APP Hospitalist - PRNESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate new patient consultation and health history review
- Perform physical examinations and screenings of patients, order and administer tests including bloodwork, review and interpret test results, diagnoses health problems, detect changes in patient condition, and administer medications as appropriate
- Ensure patient records are kept up to date including test results, immunizations, condition changes, etc. by entering patient data into the medical record
- Reviews patient health records and other pertinent information in appropriate databases, updates the patient information at every point of encounter
- Coordination of pharmacy prescriptions for the physicians and utilizes appropriate databases
- Implements interventions based upon the physician's medical plan and standards of care including medication and treatments with knowledge of therapeutic intent
- Utilizes critical thinking to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of care. Recommend further treatment options or future appointment as needed
- Assists patients and families to integrate the impact of illness and recovery into their lifestyles
- Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Provide after-care/ongoing care information and resources to patients and their families
- Provide referrals to other practitioners when necessary
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
- Provide care to hospital inpatients as needed under the supervision of the attending physician
- Deliver quality level care while complying with company policies, safety regulations, and productivity metrics
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
- Ability to maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients and their representatives, managers, physicians, other clinic staff, outside agencies, and the public
- Microsoft Office knowledge and basic computer skills required
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- A strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patient, compassionate nature
- Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and other nurses
- Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment
- Must be familiar with the Electronic Health Record (EHR) medical charting system (Cerner/Athena)
- Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems preferred
- Prescriptive authorization required
- Disease prevention knowledge required

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master degree in nursing required
- Current state nurse practitioner license required
- 2 years of applicable experience in the role.
- 4 years of total nursing experience required
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- RN or APRN experience in an Outpatient Medical setting
- Internal Medicine experience
- Oncology experience
- Cerner and Athena experience
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Healthcare Provider BLS through the AHA or ARC before start date.
- Current State Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing.
