Security Officer - HRMC - PRNEssential Responsibilities:
Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
- Patrols all buildings and grounds of the campus and off campus affiliates and reports all potential safety and fire hazards.
- Responds to emergency calls to assist in controlling disorderly and combative patients, visitors, and suspects that may result in extreme heavy lifting, running, restraining, and exposure to chemicals, fluids, etc.
- Investigates incidents of criminal acts such as thefts, batteries, assaults, and violations of restraining orders.
- Assists motorists, pedestrians, and visitors while on the premises as necessary.
- Facilitates and conducts the required trainings and drills.
- Facilitates emergency response training with staff
- Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
- Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
- Prior experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Corrections, or Hospital care
Required License/Certifications/Registrations
- Valid Kansas driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education and Experience
- 1-5 years Law Enforcement / Corrections/Military related field experience
- Military / Security / Law Enforcement experience
- Trade School diploma or certificate
Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations
- none
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer data entry, keyboarding, and report writing
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- Verbal de-escalation techniques
- Self -defense training
Physical Requirements:

- Very Heavy Work: Occasionally exerting greater than 100 lbs - constantly exerting up to 50 lbs. 75-100% of the day may be standing or walking.
