Job Summary
The professional RN administers nursing care guided by the Nurse Practice Act and the policies and procedures of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to assess pertinent data utilizing patient, family/designated caregivers and interdisciplinary input.
- In collaboration with the patient, family, designated caregivers and interdisciplinary team the nurse develops and implements a plan of care with identified outcomes for the patient.
- In collaboration with the patient, family/designated caregivers and the interdisciplinary team patient progress is evaluated relative to the plan of care. The plan is modified and adjusted to meet identified outcomes and patient preferences.
- Completed timely and comprehensive patient documentation, in accordance with service area standards.
- Applies Evidence Based Practice and Quality of Care Standards to nursing practice.
- Applies principles of Safe Patient Care Initiatives to delivery of patient care
- Demonstrates stewardship of organizational resources and applies to nursing practice.
- Connects the practice of nursing to service area/organization initiatives through committee/project participation and attendance of service area/organization meetings. As a member of the health care team looks for mechanisms to improve efficiency and patient care delivery.
- Demonstrates a commitment to professional development through completion of mandatory education and annual service area competencies.
- Demonstrates punctuality and consistent attendance record.
- Appropriately delegates and provides supervisory oversight for support staff roles.
- Demonstrates professionalism with a consistently supportive, positive demeanor in workplace interactions.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an approved nursing program.
- Current Minnesota RN license (will be primary source verified by HR).
- CPR (within 30 days of start date)
- ACLS-required for all direct patient care RNs
- Med/Surg and BirthCare-if not certified at time of hire, between year 1 and 2 of start date
- All other RNs-if not certified at the time of hire, within 1 year of start date
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring-required for BirthCare
- If not certified at time of hire, within 2 years from start date
- NRP-required for BirthCare
- If not certified at time of hire, within 1 year of start date
- STABLE-required for BirthCare
- If not certified at time of hire, within 2 years from start date
- Good oral and written communication skills required.
- Critical thinking and the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks is required.
