Hutchinson Health has an exciting opportunity to offer a Laboratory Internship with our team!
Our laboratory internship program is designed to help prepare students and/or recent graduates to relate and apply what they have learned in a classroom setting to a health care organization while assisting with projects to support the mission and objectives of the organization and expose young professionals to operational activities. The laboratory intern will be guided by a mutually beneficial set of goals and objectives. This internship will provide a greater understanding of various parts of the lab including but not limited to specimen collections, receipt, processing, testing, and reporting. Tasks and project(s) will be developed jointly by the intern and leadership to mutually benefit the intern and the organization.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Must be enrolled in or graduated from a higher education program in an applicable discipline that relates to the laboratory internship program.

- Microsoft Office suite of products

- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrates strong analytic skills and confidence in decision making.
- Demonstrates ability to work collegially with internal and external contacts.
- The intern will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- (80%) – Effectively execute specimen collection tasks and specimen processing with attention to detail, including:
- Perform phlebotomy procedures for patients of all age groups
- Accurately interprets lab orders and utilize EMR functionality
- May perform non-blood specimen acquisition collection
- May process specimens with attention to detail.
- Ensuring precise patient identification
- May educate patients on self-collection procedures and supplies
- Delivering high-quality customer service
- (20%) – Other duties as assigned.
