Job Summary: The Staff Scheduler/Float Staff Supervisor organizes and facilitates all staffing and scheduling needs of the nursing departments. The Staff Scheduler is also responsible for assisting with the timecard processing, including review, editing, and approval. Directs and manages all aspects of the float pool staff, offering leadership, guidance, and assistance as needed.
Primary Job Functions:
- Manages the Call-in phone for communication about absences and assignment requests
- Send out the float assignments text by 7am daily to all floats and directors
- Reviews Time off requests. Responds to all Vacation & Sick requests within 72 hours of submission. Respond to all Bereavement requests within 24 hours.
- Manages the Float Schedule. Updates the float schedule daily with Call ins. Indicates NC for providers who did not get coverage.
- Updates employee attendance records following unscheduled occurrences daily. Email records to the director and provides notification to the director of employees who have 3 or more unscheduled occurrences in a 6-month rolling calendar year.
- Reviews employee timecards daily. Ensures employees are working the schedules in which they were hired, and that they clocked appropriately.
- Reviews punch request changes for employees. Looks for trends of excess. Notifies Directors of any trends
- Responsible for the interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of float pool staff.
- Obtains daily staff requests and fill them efficiently. Uphold accurate system for tracking staff over a variety of shifts.
- Assists with payroll to verify payroll accuracy. Process employee benefit time requests.
- Assists New Hire Training Schedules. Updates the Staff Schedule to reflect all New hire training to ensure we don’t have multiple trainees in one area at once. Keep list of Floats updated.
- Develops strong inter-department teamwork and empowerment to meet the needs of the patients and providers.
- Interviews and Hires staff to work in the float pool.
- Manages direct reports annual review
Other Job Functions:
- Interacts with and uses independent judgment to solve problems effectively with physicians, patients, staff, and organizational leaders.
- Complete organizational annual training
- Maintains a professional and positive attitude, appearance and relationship with patients and staff.
- Completes the monthly staffing expense reports
- Assists the Directors with the Overdue task lists
- Provides support for RL6 submissions
- Assist the directors with their staff’s annual training progress reports
- Works in departments needing coverage.
- Observes all clinic guidelines and polices.
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field of study preferred
Work Experience:
- Previous work experience in a healthcare setting
- Previous Management or Supervisory experience preferred

- Strong written and verbal communication to effectively communicate with patients, providers, insurance companies, and medication companies.
- The ability to meticulously track and manage complex processes
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- The ability to troubleshoot issues and find solutions to challenges
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload, using time effectively to achieve expected productivity and efficiency
Work Environment:
- Work is typically performed indoors with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and conditions
- Exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances
Physical Requirements:
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard
