What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Scientist, StoreConnect position at Hussmann Corporation?
Work with the other members of the StoreConnect software engineering team, comprised of 10-15 engineers, to develop, implement, and maintain algorithms to identify and predict failures in commercial refrigeration systems using data collected from the Internet of Things (IoT) product. Responsible for the development, implementation, support, and integration of new data analysis routines and algorithms into an existing commercial product. This will include development in Python and querying both SQL and no-SQL databases. Responsible for the performance and verification of newly integrated software.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and develop algorithms processing timeseries data to assess the health and operating efficiency of commercial refrigeration systems
- Integrate algorithms into production code base as modular, testable, and scalable python code
- Utilize existing data storage solutions and data access APIs
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Physical Chemistry, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 4 years of data analysis experience using Python and supporting analysis tools; experience with NumPy and Scikit-learn
- Experience building machine learning models and/or predictive timeseries analysis
- Competent in writing SQL queries
- Experience with Linux development environments
- Experience with version control systems (svn, git)
- Excellent analytical skills and detail orientation
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proficient in data mining and visualization
Additional Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Pandas
- Understanding of thermodynamics and ideal gas laws
- Familiarity with a variety of data formats: JSON, CSV, HEX
- Experience with cloud computing
- Enjoy working with low-level data
