Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, providing detailed information on contact lens fitting procedures, frame options, and related optical services.
- Assist patients in scheduling appointments for contact lens fittings and frame consultations, ensuring efficient clinic flow.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding medical terminology, anatomy of the eye, and physiology to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Collaborate with optometrists and optical staff to relay patient needs and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms to document patient details accurately.
- Support retail sales efforts by advising on frames and lenses that meet individual needs while promoting store products responsibly.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or retail optometry is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and health regulation policies relevant to eye care.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, medical billing, coding, and medical records management.
- Experience with optical POS systems, EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms, and laboratory procedures is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and empathetically.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while maintaining clinical confidentiality standards.
- Retail sales experience combined with knowledge of optics and vital signs measurement enhances success in this role.
