Job Description: The TEMPORARY 1/2 Day School Bus Operator is responsible for operating school buses and other school transportation vehicles as provided by the West Virginia Board of Education.
Qualifications:
- Holds a high school diploma or GED or TASC
- Holds a Commercial Driver’s License, Class B, Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements
- Passes the required physical examination
- Has three years of experience as a licensed driver
- Passes the Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record Check
- Passes the Drug/Alcohol Screening
- Completes 40 hours of required classroom training and 20 hours of behind the wheel training.
- Holds First Aid/CPR Certification
- Holds a West Virginia School Bus Operator’s Certificate
Length of Employment: Until Employee Returns or Resigns

Responsibilities: The TEMPORARY 1/2 Day School Bus Operator shall have the responsibilities and duties as outlined in The Putnam County Schools Job Description Handbook.

Effective Employment Date: January 21, 2026
Daily Schedule: Pre-Trip – 15 Minutes prior to pullout time (AM only)
Currently - Pull Out Time (PM) – 2:00 - 4:15
Post-Trip – 15 Minutes
