Overview
Posting is a section of the Patient Accounting Department. Patient Accounting is a Department of the Patient Financial Services Division.
Responsible for Posting of all cash for Huntsville Hospital, Helen Keller Hospital, Red Bay Hospital, Decatur Hospital and Athens-Limestone Hospital. This requires that the manager maintain efficient operations by effectively utilizing all staff and technology resources. Overall operations of these functions will require the Manager to maintain appropriate applicable knowledge of posting standards and requirements. Continuously monitor and educate the staff to meet standards and goals. Working with the Revenue Cycle Manager to set long-term and short-term goals and monitor progress of electric posting, manual posting, lock box cash and credit card payments. Hiring and developing appropriate staff. Performs duties in a manner to support Patient Financial Services vision.

The primary job functions of this position should be accomplished working to the achieve the goal of supporting the vision of Huntsville Hospital by ensuring all clinical services provided by the organization are appropriately compensated by third party payors, patients, or charity programs. Overall goal achieved by continuously striving to ensure:
- Regulatory and payor compliance of patient access, charging, billing, and collection standards
- Patient satisfaction of patient access, billing, and follow-up processes
- Positive communications and outcomes with internal customers and support services
- Effective utilization of outsourced and internal resources
- Staff development
- Updated and applied accurate policy and procedures
- Active quality assurance and process improvement
- Accurate application of payor contracts
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Manage/lead staff
- Manage daily balance sheets for all entities
- Manage unapplied cash for all entities
- Extensive experience in policy development and process improvement initiatives
- Work and succeeded in environment that requires setting goals for staff and monitor/taking corrective measures to achieve goals
- Ability to mentor and develop staff
- Effective communication skills demonstrating ability to communicate to direct staff, upper management, and cross-departmental staff
- Demonstrates through previous work experience a mature approach to problem identification and solving
- Ability to review staff members work, audit results, and take corrective action as needed
- Manage multi-tasks in a high volume producing work environment
- Experience coordinating outsourced services of the patient accounting function.
Education:
- High School graduate
- Maintained continuing education in the areas of posting and collections
- College graduate or five to ten years working experience in preferred in the area of Healthcare Mgt, Business Admin, Finance, or College course completion specific to role (i.e. Medical Terminology, Statistics, Accounting, Information Technology)
Experience:
- 5 to 10 years working in posting and collection. Prefer working experience in a larger hospital environment (500 beds)
Additional Skills/Abilities:
- Day-to-day applications and proficiency in EXCEL and WORD
- 10 – Key calculator
Experience in utilizing interoffice e-mails, report management, and database report writer (I.e., Medefinance, EPSI, or Access
