SAT/ACT TEST PREP TUTOR

Role Description The SAT/ACT Test Prep Tutor is a part-time, on-site role based at the Huntington Learning Center in Clermont, FL. In this position, the tutor provides individualized and small-group instruction to high school students preparing for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and related standardized exams. Daily responsibilities include delivering structured lessons using Huntington’s curriculum, diagnosing student strengths and areas for improvement, and tailoring instruction to meet specific score goals. The tutor monitors progress through regular assessments, offers clear feedback to students, and communicates results and recommendations to families and center leadership. Additional duties may include maintaining accurate student records, collaborating with other educators, supporting center operations, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with test changes and instructional best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong content knowledge in high school-level math (algebra, geometry, basic trigonometry), reading comprehension, grammar, and essay writing relevant to SAT and ACT exams.
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts clearly, adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning styles, and provide constructive, motivating feedback.
• Experience in tutoring, classroom teaching, or academic mentoring, preferably with high school students and standardized test preparation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and collaborate effectively with families and colleagues.
• Organizational and time-management skills, including lesson planning, progress tracking, and consistent follow-through on student goals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field; advanced coursework or degrees and prior SAT/ACT test-taking experience are a plus.
• Comfort working in an on-site educational center environment, with reliability in scheduling and willingness to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends as needed.
