Part-time Certified Teacher and Academic Tutor

Huntington Learning Center of Little Rock is hiring caring and dependable certified teachers to provide academic instruction in reading, phonics, writing, math, language arts, and study skills.

About Huntington Learning Center

Huntington Learning Center provides remedial and enrichment instruction for students in kindergarten through high school. Our individualized programs help students strengthen foundational skills, improve classroom performance, and become more confident and independent learners.

Our Little Rock center also helps eligible students improve their reading skills through the Arkansas Literacy Tutoring Grant program. Teachers working with these students have the opportunity to provide focused instruction that can make a meaningful difference in a child’s reading development and academic future.

What You Will Do

Teachers provide in person instruction using Huntington’s established curriculum and teaching methods.

Students in third grade and below receive one to one instruction. Students in fourth grade and above are generally taught in small groups of up to four students with each student working on an individualized program.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing instruction in reading, phonics, writing, math, language arts, and study skills
• Following individualized lesson plans and curriculum provided by Huntington
• Encouraging students and helping them build academic confidence
• Monitoring student work and recording progress after each session
• Maintaining a positive, focused, and supportive learning environment
• Communicating with Huntington staff regarding student progress

Teachers do not create lesson plans, assign homework, or take papers home to grade.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Current or previous teacher certification required
• Experience teaching elementary or middle school students preferred
• Strong reading or math instructional skills
• Ability to work effectively with students of different ages and skill levels
• Dependable, patient, encouraging, and professional
• Recent graduates, current teachers, and retired teachers are encouraged to apply

Schedule

This is a part time, in person position. Instruction is normally scheduled in two hour blocks, and teachers may work consecutive sessions depending on their availability and student demand.

Available teaching hours are:

• Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Most school year instruction takes place during after school and early evening hours. Teachers do not need to be available during all listed hours. We work with each teacher to establish a consistent schedule based on the teacher’s availability and student needs.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
