Administers respiratory therapy care and life support to residents with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of a physician and by prescription. May provide support to more than one center on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct respiratory assessments for new admissions within 24–48 hours to identify respiratory needs and document findings appropriately
- Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized respiratory care
- Participate in care plan meetings and team discussions regarding resident respiratory status, treatment goals, and discharge planning
- Set up, operate, and monitor respiratory equipment including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, aerosol therapy devices, and related apparatus
- Administer respiratory treatments, perform bronchopulmonary hygiene, and assist residents with breathing exercises as indicated
- Monitor residents’ physiological responses to respiratory therapy and ensure proper functioning of equipment
- Coordinate respiratory equipment, oxygen, supplies, and medications in collaboration with nursing and case management
- Communicate changes in resident condition and consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding adverse reactions or treatment concerns
- Support continuity of respiratory care by collaborating with nursing staff when respiratory coverage is not available
- Assists with CPR and code response training and drills
- Credentialed Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Active Respiratory Therapy License in State
- Prior experience in hospital-like setting preferred
