Litigation Legal Assistant
- Provide confidential administrative support to legal staff.
- Prepare documents and correspondence requiring knowledge of legal terminology and document formats, such as contracts, briefs, complaints, and motions.
- eFile in state and federal courts.
- Draft and proofread documents.
- Draft table of contents on briefs.
- Enter attorney time into 3E.
- Manage attorneys’ expense reimbursements.
- Maintain attorneys’ calendars – make appointments, assist with coordination of depositions, court hearings, and other meetings. Reserve conference rooms and court reporters.
- Calendar court and filing deadlines and communicate with docketing department as needed.
- Sort, distribute, and prioritize all incoming mail. Prepare outgoing mail/shipping.
- Maintain all client files. Work with records department to complete conflicts checks, open new matters, and close files.
- Book travel arrangements as needed.
- Maintain contact information for attorneys.
- General Office Duties: faxing, photocopying, scanning, document preparation.
- Adhere to administrative and recordkeeping guidelines to support documentation of activities.
- Provide overflow secretarial support as needed/requested.
- Work closely with other secretarial and administrative support staff (billing associates, internal services personnel, etc.).
Litigation Legal Assistant Requirements
- 4 years business litigation experience is preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail and grammar on professional and internal communication (email/documents/data entry).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Strong computer competency and proficiency with firm software and hardware including 3E, iManage, Kofax Power PDF, Emburse, Milana, and Forms Workflow preferred.
- Competent knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Proficient in eFiling in state and federal courts.
- Possess a working knowledge of e-discovery procedures.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and complete tasks under time constraints.
- Basic ability to operate office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, printer, scanner, fax, and computer; proficient with internet research.
- Accurate typing skills at a minimum level of 60 wpm.
Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
