CNC Lathe & Swiss Machinist, Screw Machine Experienced

Imagine you’ve just clocked in. You review the traveler, load material, bring the machine online, and run a first-article check. Surface finish looks right, dimensions are tight, and the program clears without alarms. When something’s off, you don’t flinch—you trace it to a dull insert, tweak feeds, verify offsets, and get the line humming again. If that sounds like your groove, read on.

• Execute safe, efficient setups and operation on CNC turning (primary) and milling (as needed).
• Handle start-up/shutdown routines and accurate material loading.
• Change tooling/fixtures, set up workholding, and verify offsets.
• Inspect parts visually and dimensionally with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, comparators, and gages.
• Adjust speeds, feeds, and key parameters to stabilize processes and boost throughput.
• Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and non-conformance issues; quickly diagnose program alarms.
• Identify and escalate machine issues; assist with minor mechanical repairs.
• Preset tooling and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate production records and required documentation.
• Recommend process and schedule improvements that reduce cost and improve delivery/performance.
• Mentor less experienced machinists; share techniques that raise team capability.
• Modify programs to resolve issues or capture gains in quality and cycle time.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced understanding of machining processes, equipment, and tooling.
• Track record of troubleshooting and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
• Clear, effective communication and a self-driven work style.
• Experience running CNC equipment with part loading/unloading and inspection.
• Metrology mastery: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, comparators, and gages.
• Ability to spot and fix tooling/machining issues (tool holders, collets, chucks, etc.).
• Comfort diagnosing and resolving minor mechanical equipment malfunctions.
• Background with conventional screw machines—Acme-Gridley, New Britain, and Warner & Swasey ("Trucker").
• Primary focus is CNC lathes (~90%); milling experience welcome.
