What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer (Industrial Wear & Corrosion Solutions) position at Hunter Davis Group?
Hunter Davis Group is conducting an exclusive search on behalf of a global leader in high-performance anti-wear and corrosion protection solutions. This is a newly created role, built to accelerate growth in industrial markets beyond the company's traditional customer base.
Our client operates two U.S. manufacturing facilities, employs approximately 50 people, and generates over $20M in annual U.S. revenue. They are ISO 9001 certified and backed by in-house R&D, a metallurgical lab, and advanced CNC and laser processing equipment. The company is known for the exceptional longevity and performance of its products — and for standing firmly behind them.
This is a rare opportunity to join a technically excellent, financially stable company during a genuine expansion phase, with a clear path to grow into a sales leadership role.
As Sales Engineer, you will own new business development across the U.S., targeting customers with high-wear and corrosion challenges in sectors such as:
- Mining and aggregate processing
- Dredging
- Agriculture and food processing equipment
- Steel and foundry
- OEM manufacturing
- Oil & gas
You will promote the company's laser cladding services and hardfacing consumables, working directly with maintenance, reliability, engineering, and procurement decision-makers. You'll manage deals ranging from $1,000 to $2M , across both short and long sales cycles.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Identifying and developing new accounts through proactive prospecting and field visits
- Attending approximately 8 industry trade shows per year
- Collaborating with in-house engineers to develop technical proposals and quotes
- Providing application-level expertise and consultative recommendations
- Traveling up to 50% across the U.S., with monthly visits to company facilities
Required:
- 5 years of technical B2B sales experience
- Background in welding consumables, hardfacing, laser cladding, carbide products, PTA, or closely related wear-protection technologies
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, long-cycle sales
- Familiarity with wear applications and the ability to read engineering drawings
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal oversight
- Strong communication skills and a consultative, value-based selling approach
You'll stand out if you have:
- Experience selling to maintenance/reliability managers, OEM procurement teams, or high-spec industrial end users
- A background that bridges both a shop floor and a sales environment
- An entrepreneurial mindset and genuine curiosity about how things fail — and how to prevent it
- True hunter opportunity — you're building something, not maintaining it
- Premium product with minimal failure rates and strong market reputation
- Full internal support — production, R&D, and technical specialists back you up
- Growth trajectory — real opportunity to shape the U.S. sales organization
- Stable, quality-driven culture that values long-term relationships over short-term wins
