HGA is hiring a Civil/Structural Engineer in Baton Rouge, LA. The Civil/Structural Engineer (CSA) position is a direct-hire role based at HGA’s Baton Rouge, LA office. We are seeking qualified candidates to support and lead civil/structural engineering efforts across projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversees and is responsible for all CSA technical aspects of projects
Leads project teams as the lead engineer and coordinates design efforts
Develops calculations, design drawings, and supports field work activities
Assesses project requirements, defines scope, and breaks work into executable tasks
Supports scope development, budgeting, and staffing coordination with engineering teams
Prepares engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems
Analyzes performance and operation of existing systems
Reviews and verifies all technical calculations and drawings for accuracy
Writes detailed scopes of work based on client meetings and preliminary reviews
Prepares or reviews construction cost estimates based on project scope
Maintains communication across disciplines to ensure schedule and budget alignment
Manages project manhour budgets and schedules
Generates and maintains discipline-specific documentation for project communication
Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, codes, and standards
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Minimum 10 years of experience in civil/structural design and calculations (steel and reinforced concrete)
Proficiency with design codes and standards including AISC, ACI, IBC, ASCE 7, and related specifications
Experience working within a consulting engineering firm environment
Ability to generate structural calculations (foundations and steel systems)
Proven experience managing multi-discipline engineering projects
Strong understanding of engineering design and construction processes
Advanced skills in engineering management, communication, and client relationship management
Ability to perform site visits and gather field data at operating plants or construction sites
Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights; must have clear vision and ability to focus
Proficiency in STAAD Pro, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Windows
Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 and 3D modeling is a plus
Must reside within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA
