Long-Term Nanny / Family Assistant
Location: Hudson, OH
Start Date: ASAP
Children: One toddler (18 months)
About the Family
This position is for a dual resident physician family seeking a long-term nanny/family assistant to become an important part of their household. Both parents work demanding schedules, as resident physicians that require a nontraditional schedule. They are looking for someone dependable, flexible, and proactive who enjoys working as a true partner in helping their home run smoothly.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands that supporting physicians means embracing a non-traditional schedule. Rather than working the same hours every week, you'll enjoy a schedule that follows the family's hospital commitments.
Their son attends daycare during the day for socialization, so this position combines childcare with family assistant responsibilities. The family values curiosity, independence, kindness, and spending time outdoors, and they're looking for someone who naturally embraces those same values.
Schedule
This position averages 35 guaranteed hours per week and follows a rotating schedule designed around the parents' hospital responsibilities. While the schedule varies from week to week, it is predictable and communicated well in advance.
Hours will generally fall Monday through Friday between 5:30 AM and 7:00 PM, with a combination of morning and afternoon/evening shifts. (During the day the child will be in daycare- so this role is great for someone who has daily responsibilities to tend to.) Typical responsibilities include preparing the child for daycare in the morning, daycare drop-off and pick-up, engaging in age-appropriate activities, assisting with the evening routine, and light family meal preparation.
Because both parents are resident physicians, occasional weekend and overnight coverage will also be required. Weekend shifts will be provided with advance notice whenever possible. During weeks when weekend coverage is scheduled, the family will typically reduce weekday hours to maintain an average of approximately 35 hours per week and provide the nanny with additional downtime.
The family also receives support from grandparents for approximately two weeks each month. During those weeks, the nanny will continue working their guaranteed hours, with a greater emphasis on family assistant responsibilities, household support, and providing childcare coverage as needed.
