SUMMARY:
Provides clerical and operational support to ensure efficient and compliant operation of the school food and nutrition program. Maintains student meal accounts, supports daily financial processes, and assists with meal service in alignment with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety regulations. Serves as a support resource for Food & Nutrition procedures and daily operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support daily kitchen and cafeteria operations, including food preparation, service, and cleaning
- Maintain accurate student meal accounts, eligibility, and daily deposits
- Ensure compliance with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and food safety (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)) requirements
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and storage of food and supplies
- Operate and sanitize food service equipment safely
- Complete production records and required documentation
- Support student workers and assist with basic training and supervision
- Promote meal programs and communicate with families regarding meal accounts
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (Yavapai County required)
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to perform basic math, handle cash, and maintain accurate records
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office)
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families
- Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position works primarily in a school kitchen and cafeteria setting. The environment is moderately noisy and may become loud during meal service. Regular interaction with staff, students, and the public is expected.
