SUMMARY:
Prepares and serves meals for students and staff at an assigned site in accordance with established production, nutrition, sanitation, and safety standards. Supports efficient kitchen operations and ensures compliance with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements and food safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch meals according to standardized recipes and production procedures
- Ensure compliance with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) meal requirements and portion standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment in accordance with health regulations
- Operate and sanitize food preparation equipment properly
- Assist with inventory, deliveries, and food storage
- Complete production records and required documentation
- Maintain food temperature logs in accordance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines
- Support training of student workers and new staff
- Assist with menu execution, food ordering, and daily kitchen operations
- Support special meal services and respond to operational needs in the absence of supervision
QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (Yavapai County required)
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes and production procedures accurately
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math and record-keeping skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements as defined by the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010
- Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position works in a school kitchen and cafeteria setting. The environment is moderately noisy and may become loud during meal service. Regular interaction with staff, students, and the public is expected.
