Job Title: Cook
Primary Function and Relationship to Total Organization
Provides nutritional needs for individual patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Communicates with nutritional care team members on behalf of the patients and coordinates patient care with other health team members. Organizes those aspects of nutritional care for which she/he is accountable.
Reports to: Nutritional Services Manager and Supervisors
Supervises: None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares kitchen for daily duties.
- Prepping food for patients and staff.
- Preparing carts, utensils, and supplies for each department.
- Following the dietary guidelines for modified diets, and diet orders
- Documents temperatures and amounts of food for each meal daily.
- Follows all cooling procedures for meals prepared.
- Plans the three-day thaw of the upcoming menu.
- Prioritizes, plans, and organizes the weekly menu.
- Participates in the daily cleaning tasks.
- Maintains the weekly inventory list.
- Rotating the stock or inventory with the FIFO method.
- Stocks the necessary items for their area.
- Participates in the washing and sanitizing of all the dishes, kitchen equipment, and utensils.
- Participates in educational requirements.
