Role Description
We are seeking compassionate, adaptable substitute teachers to join our team on an as-needed basis. Substitutes play an important role in maintaining the safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment our students rely on. This position requires flexibility, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to follow established classroom routines while providing engaging instruction.
Responsibilities
- Follow provided lesson plans and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment aligned with Humanex Academy’s mission and behavioral expectations.
- Support students’ social-emotional needs while keeping learning on track.
- Communicate effectively with administrators and staff regarding student progress, concerns, or incidents.
- Ensure all policies and procedures from the Student Handbook are upheld.
Qualifications
- Experience working with middle or high school students (teaching, tutoring, youth programs, or related).
- Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and respect for all students.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; prior teaching or substitute experience a plus.
Schedule & Pay
- On-call basis during school hours (8:30 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.)
- $175/day
