Now Hiring: Shelter Administrator/Foster Coordinator (Animal Lover Required!)
Do you love animals, enjoy staying organized, and thrive in a fast-paced (and sometimes furry!) environment? We’re looking for a Shelter Administrator to help lead daily operations and make a difference in the lives of animals and our community. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the shelter which includes: supervising the kennel tech staff and administrative assistant, management of adoptions, surrenders, strays, and oversight of the care provided to our animals. Additional responsibilities for this role include managing and coordinating HSBC’s Foster Program.
What You’ll Do:
You’ll be the heart of our shelter, supporting staff, coordinating adoptions and foster care, working with volunteers, and ensuring every animal gets the care they deserve. From managing day-to-day operations to helping match pets with their forever homes, no two days are the same!
Shelter Administration Job Duties:
- Manage daily shelter operations, including intake, adoption processes, and discharge procedures
- Supervise staff and volunteers
- Oversee animal care routines such as feeding, cleaning, veterinary appointments, and behavioral assessments
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to heavy lifting, animal handling, and kennel sanitation
- Coordinate veterinary services and maintain accurate records of medical treatments and vaccinations
- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, adopters, and pet sitters by answering questions and offering guidance on pet care
- Maintain a clean, organized facility by overseeing kennel cleanliness and ensuring proper pet grooming practice.
Foster Coordinator Job Duties:
- Act as main contact for foster homes
- Support fosters with animal care and medical needs
- Coordinate veterinary care and foster placements
- Maintain foster records, database, and animal profiles
- Communicate regularly and resolve concerns
- Ensure foster training and program compliance
- Manage foster program supplies
Schedule:
Typical schedule is Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
One day per week will be 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
One Saturday per month required

We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Background in pet sitting or kennel work demonstrating reliability with pet care responsibilities
- 6 months of supervisory experience preferred
- Able to work effectively, stays calm and professional in a fast paced, emotional work environment.
- Is organized, dependable, and self-motivated
- Will be a team player and assist where needed.
- Has effective motivational skills to encourage and support others.
- Communicates well with staff, volunteers, and the public
- Can juggle multiple tasks (and maybe a puppy, kitten, or two)
- Is proficient with Microsoft Office and experience using various office equipment such as copier, fax, scanner, and phone system.
